Celebration of 75th Independence Day and 150th Birth Anniversary of Sri Aurobindo

Sri Aurobindo School of Integral Education, Chandigarh celebrated the 75th Independence Day of India and 150th birth anniversary of Sri Aurobindo Ghosh with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm. Dr. Sheojee Singh, an associate professor of Physics at Govt. College of Education, Chandigarh graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The event started with unfurling of the tricolour flag followed by National Anthem. The Chairman, Mr. Arvind Mehan, the Principal, Mrs. Garima S Bhardwaj, staff, students and parents were present for flag hoisting ceremony.

The students presented a stupendous and vibrant cultural programme which commenced with shalok gayan invoking God’s blessings. They showcased a musical tale based on the Sanskrit verse ‘Bhawani Bharti’ composed by Sri Aurobindo. The rock band performance based on the theme patriotism was a befitting tribute to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of their country. The Chief Guest, Dr. Sheojee Singh motivated the students to shoulder the responsibilities for making country proud as the future lies in the hands of our youth. The recitation of patriotic poems mesmerized everyone. The Chairman of the school, Mr. Arvind Mehan appreciated the performances of the students and exhorted them to work for a better India. The Principal, Mrs. Garima S Bhardwaj urged the children to realise the true meaning of Independence - freedom from each and every line of division - caste, class, religion, race, appearance, state and country and stand united in peace and progress.
